Robert DeFilippo, 61, of Old Bridge, NJ passed away on July 13, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1963 in Jamaica, Queens. Robert was the cherished son of Louis and the late Carol DeFilippo. After living in Brooklyn for a short time, his parents decided they would move to Old Bridge, New Jersey where they would raise their family. Robert attended Madison Central High School, graduating with the class of '82. His thirst for knowledge and adventure led him to Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where he continued his education. Robert would then move on to get a job working as a longshoreman, showcasing his work ethic, strength, and commitment for the last 37 years. His colleagues respected him not only for his dedication but also for his ability to bring laughter and joy to the workplace. In 1988, Robert met Sue at a restaurant, and it was love at first sight. He did not wait long before asking for her hand in marriage, and they were married on November 4, 1990. Their marriage was a testament to love, filled with laughter, joy, and an unbreakable bond. Together they shared a wonderful life, creating countless memories and cherishing each precious moment. Robert was a dedicated and loving father to his son, Anthony DeFilippo. His pride in Anthony was unmistakable, and he adored every moment spent together. Robert's role as a father was the highlight of his life, and he embraced it with enthusiasm, humor, and unwavering support. Robert had a passion for life that was contagious. He loved to entertain friends and family at his home, often providing food and beverages to ensure everyone had a great time. A huge movie lover, Robert found joy in every film he watched, and he shared this love with those around him. He was also an active member of the Gun Club and enjoyed participating in many Men's Softball leagues and flag football in his earlier years. Robert's characteristics were what made him truly special. He was funny, caring, compassionate, comforting, generous and truly the life of the party. His ability to make others laugh and feel loved was one of a kind, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his cherished wife, Sue, his beloved son, Anthony DeFilippo, his loving father, Louis DeFilippo, and his caring brother, Michael DeFilippo. He also leaves behind his adored nieces and nephews, Angela Peterson, Michelle DeFilippo, Alyssa DeFilippo, Julianna Shortino, Chloe Shortino, and John Shortino, Great Grandniece Bri, Great Grandnephew Zac and Great Grandniece Cecelia Robert was preceded in death by his dear mother, Carol DeFilippo. Robert DeFilippo's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. His memory will be cherished by his family and friends, and for all those who knew and loved him.
