Pacifica Ida Mercurio, 89 of Ocean Grove, New Jersey, formerly of Old Bridge passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Complete Care at Ocean Grove in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Born Tuesday, October 13, 1936 in Castel Di Sangro, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Anna Giampaolo. Her friends called her Ida. Ida was raised in Italy, and would immigrate to the United States in 1955, on the Andrea Doria. She lived in Astoria, New York. There she would start a family. The family would move to Old Bridge, NJ, in 1965. Ida raised her children in Old Bridge. Ida worked as a seamstress at JCPenney in the East Brunswick Mall for 40 years. When she wasn't working she loved spending time in the garden. She devoted much of her time to her gardens and landscaping and took pride in her yard's excellent appearance. Ida was an excellent cook and loved making meals for her large family. She loved listening to music and dancing. More than anything Ida loved spending time with her family, and she will be deeply missed by all those blessed to have her in their lives. Ida was predeceased by her parents, Giovanni and Anna, and by her brothers, Nicola, Mario, and Nicola who died in infancy, and her former husband John Mercurio. Ida is survived by her loving children, Dina Mercurio, Franco Mercurio and his wife Julie, Rita Mercurio, Joan Mills and her husband Pete, and Annette Codispoti and her husband John, and by her cherished grandchildren, Michael Dziedzic and his fiance Deena, Nicole Lasner and her husband Joe, Alex, Nicholas, and Andrew Mercurio, Sean Mills, and James and Thomas Codispoti. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday at St. Thomas the Apostle located at 1 St Thomas Plaza Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
