Mary Alice Hans

Mary Alice Hans, 83 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Fondly known as Alice , she was born Monday, March 4, 1940 in London, England. Alice was the daughter of the late James and Ellen Curtin. In the midst of WWII, Alice and her family relocated to Ireland to seek safety until she was ten when returned to England. At age 21 she made the bold move to the United States alone. She settled in New York City and began working as an administrative assistant. Her friends set her up on a blind date who became the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Walter Hans. The newlyweds would live in the Bronx. They were eager to start a family of their own and relocated to New Jersey. They settled in Old Bridge and welcomed their two wonderful daughters Allyson and Karen. Alice was always active in her community. She was a member of the Friends of the Library here in Old Bridge and was President of the Ladies Elks Auxiliary. She was a parishioner of Saint Ambrose Church and taught CCD there for many years. When Alice wasn't at a group meeting, or volunteering her time, she enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels, and watching Jeopardy. She was a huge fan of the Chelsea Football Club and the New York Giants. She was a loving and genuinely caring woman who will be missed by all those that were blessed to have her in their lives. Alice was predeceased by her beloved parents James and Ellen. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years Walter, her cherished daughters Allyson Scalora and her fiance Manny Germano, and Karen Solano and her husband Wayne, by her adoring grandchildren Shawn, Nicholas, Matthew, and Michael, by her caring siblings Cathy Wells and Thomas Curtin, by many loving nieces and nephews, and by her beloved dog Teebo. A memorial service will be held from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
