Dolores Adinolfi

Dolores Adinolfi, 78, of Monroe Township, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at home surrounded by the love of her family. Born Friday, April 5, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, Dolores was the oldest of five children born to the late Eltore and Anne Matarazzo. Dolores was raised in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn and was a graduate of LaFayette High School. Dolores met the love of her life, George Adinolfi, when she was just 11 years old and her family moved next door. Though they didn't date until after high school, Dolores and George would soon begin their nearly 56 year journey together as husband and wife. They would live in Ft. Hood, Texas, while George was in the Army, and eventually moved to Dearborn, Michigan where George was a car designer for Ford. Dolores would soon give birth to their first child, George, but a longing for home and family eventually drew them back to New York. Family was everything for Dolores and their family soon grew when their second son, Robert, was born. Eventually the family would move from New York to Middletown, New Jersey. Dolores epitomized what a 'Mom' should be. Her support for her children was unapologetically unyielding. This maternal trait extended to her many nieces and nephews who knew they could rely on 'Aunt Dee Dee' when they needed some encouragement or advice. As a dedicated homemaker, she took great pride in a clean home, lovingly prepared meals, and a home constantly filled with love and music particularly when her husband and sons were playing it together. Dolores loved cooking, decorating, and entertaining on the holidays. Regardless of whether it was for a few or for many, her bountiful, multi-course meals were always more suitable for 'many.' She delighted in the fact that family and friends always left her home happy and well fed. In 2008, Dolores was promoted from 'Mom' to 'Grandma,' which began the most joyful 'job' of her life as she doted on her granddaughters, Olivia then Emily, with love, guidance, encouragement, countless trips to Target and Four Boys Ice Cream, and, most importantly, time. She will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to have her in their lives. Dolores is survived by her beloved husband of almost 56 years, George, by her loving sons, George, and Robert and his wife Cheryl, by her cherished granddaughters, Olivia and Emily, and by her siblings, Richard Matarazzo (Patricia), Patricia Mangravito, Marguerite Puglisi (Sal), and Robert Matarazzo.
