Veronica Green

March 25, 1936 - April 29, 2022

Veronica (Ronnie) Green, 86, of Sayreville, New Jersey passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born Wednesday, March 25, 1936, in Shenandoah, PA, Ronnie was the youngest of eleven children born to the late John (Jan) and Catherine Igielski. Ronnie would move from Pennsylvania to Kearny, NJ after her second year of high school, and she would go on to graduate from Kearny High School. While living in Kearny she would meet and marry the love of her life Marshall Green. The couple would raise a family of their own in Kearny. Ronnie worked as a clerk for Verizon for over 30 years. Upon retirement she began a second career as a special education teacher's aide at Kearny High School. She carried this new passion for education even further, teaching continuing education classes in conversational Polish. During this time of her life, Ronnie moved from Kearny to Sayreville. Ronnie devoted herself to family. For many years she took care of her invalid mother and then she opened her home to her brother, Jas (Unky). Ronnie enjoyed traveling with extended family and friends to Europe and across the country. She also spent many weekends with family in the Poconos and traveling to see her beloved children and grandsons. Ronnie was affectionately known as Cioci (aunt) Ronnie not only to her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews but also to the many friends she integrated into her life. Her passion for her loved ones and the stories she told them will be deeply missed. Ronnie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marshall, and by her caring son-in-law, Kevin Hennessy. She is survived by her loving daughters, Catherine Galbraith (James), and Sharon Green-Hennessy, and by her cherished grandsons, Ethan, Ian, Colin, and Alec. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. www.cancer.org/donate The family will receive friends from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
