Sergio Minervini

July 3, 1936 - February 14, 2020

Sergio Minervini, 83 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Madison Care Center in Matawan, New Jersey. Born Friday, July 3, 1936 in Molfetta, Italy, he was the son of the late Corrado Minervini and Gilorma LaGrasta. Sergio was raised in Italy. He worked as a mechanic in the marine industry. His career would bring him to Australia where he would meet and marry the love of his life, Teresa DeCeglie. After marrying the couple would have a daughter. In 1973 the family would immigrate to the United States, living first in Hoboken, before eventually settling in Old Bridge, more than 30 years ago. Sergio continued to work in the Marine Industry as a mechanic, working for Cunningham Marine, in Hoboken until his retirement. First and most of all Sergio loved being with his family, and he will be missed by all those that loved him. Sergio was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 47 years, Teresa, who passed away in 2014, by his loving parents, Corrado Minervini and Gilorma LaGrasta, and by his brother in law, Joseph DeVirgilio. Sergio is survived by his loving daughter, Gina Minervini, by his cherished granddaughters, Brianna and Brittany Bernath, by his caring siblings, Vito Minervini and his wife Irene, Sammy Minervini and his wife Lina, Teresa O'Loughlin and her husband John, Nicoletta DeVirgilio, Joseph Minervini and his wife Diane, ad Lucrezia Minervini and her husband Michael, and by many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday at the Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Service located at 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, East Brunswick, NJ. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made in Sergio's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
