Salvatore DiBenedetto, 65, of Monroe, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Tuesday, November 18, 1958, in Catania, Italy, Sal was the devoted son of Carmela, and the late Giuseppe DiBenedetto. He and his siblings were raised in Sicily until 1974, at which point they immigrated to America, and settled in Staten Island, New York. During his early years in America, Sal began working as a mechanic, a role that ignited his lifelong passion for cars. He later transitioned to a career as an Operating Engineer with Local 15, a profession he dedicated himself to until his retirement in 1996. In 1978, Sals life took a beautiful turn when he met Filomena, the love of his life, and they later married in 1980. Together, they raised their two children, Carmela and Joey, in Staten Island, and later relocated to New Jersey in 2000. Sal was a man of many passions, with cars holding a special place in his heart. Whether he was working on his own car, negotiating a deal, or simply helping others, his knowledge and enthusiasm for cars always shined through. He was never shy to tell someone when their car needed an oil change or new tires, and was always willing to lend them a helping hand. Sal also loved to travel with Filomena, with Italy and Florida being his favorite destinations. Sal was known for his dependability, always ready to help someone, regardless of the time or day. He loved being in the company of family and friends, lighting up any room with his infectious smile and charismatic personality. Known as the life of the party, Sal had a gift for creating memorable, joyful moments. Above all, Sals greatest joy came from his family. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness. Being surrounded by family was where Sal found his true fulfillment, and he cherished every opportunity to be with them. Salvatore is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Filomena, and his beloved mother, Carmela. He is also survived by his cherished children: Joey and his wife Jamie, and Carmela and her husband Michael. His treasured siblings, Max, Matteo, Margherita, and Anna, as well as his adored grandchildren, Sofia and Salvatore Salvatore DiBenedetto will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of warmth, joy, and unwavering support will be remembered and cherished by his family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday at Most Holy Redeemer Church located at 133 Amboy Road Matawan, New Jersey 07747. Entombment will be in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Morganville, NJ.
