“He was one of the rare ones: so effortlessly himself, and the world loved him for it.” Brooklyn native Rudolph Valentino, 71, passed away this Tuesday, February 28, 2017. A celebration of Rudolph’s life will be held this Friday, March 3 from 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM at the Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Funeral Home in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Born in Gravesend, Brooklyn on December 21, 1945 to Virgilio and Frances Valentino, Rudy, as he is affectionately known by his friends and family, is survived by his loving wife Brenda, his children, daughter Jamie, son Jason and his wife Michele Valentino, two brothers, Alex and his wife Rosemary, Phil and his wife Maria, his step-children Kevin Kiem, Kimberly Iacoviello, Randi Metsch-Ampel, Kristine Cunningham, Raymond John Kiem, loving in-laws, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, with another on the way. After over 20 years as an executive at Bradley Time, attending Fordham University, and many years as a business owner, Rudy’s passion for antiques and business landed him in Asbury Park where he was the proprietor of the well-known Antique Emporium of Asbury Park. Known for his fierce love and loyalty and for keeping his family and, in fact, all who knew him, entertained with his endless unusual stories, Rudy was a purveyor of all things vintage, authentically Italian, and related to his beloved wife. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Rudy’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project. Memorial information is below.
