Maureen Shaw

February 17, 1938 - July 31, 2020

Maureen Ann Shaw, beloved matriarch of the Curtin clan of Kinvarra, County Galway, Ireland passed away on July 31, 2020. Maureen was predeceased by her husband Robert Joseph Shaw (1/31/94) and daughter Maureen Shaw Kahrs (3/25/13). Maureen will be greatly missed by her adoring daughters Linda, Kelly and Stacey and her six grandchildren Rob, Sarah, Megan, Aidan, Patrick and Connor. Maureen was the oldest of the Curtin siblings and will be mourned by Paddy Joe, John, Carmel and Gerard. She is predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Margaret Curtin, her brothers Michael and Tom, and her sisters Bridie and Teresa. Maureen was a devout Catholic and worshipped at the Parish of St. Thomas More in Manalapan, New Jersey where she raised her family. After the kids were grown and flown, Maureen resided in Palmyra, VA; Clermont FL; and Midlothian VA. Family was the bedrock of her happiness which she gifted to all those who knew her. Maureen's smile revealed her optimistic nature and the value she placed on living a simple life filled with love, family and friendship. Maureen innately understood that the power to overcome any situation in life requires the full reliance on God's everlasting love for his children. Maureen's gentle -- yet tough as nails - resilient approach to life made her a truly remarkable woman. She was genuine, kind, supportive and always up for a bit of craic! Maureen's feisty Irish spirit will live in perpetuity both here on Earth through fond memories held by her loved ones and in Heaven where she now resides with the Lord, her Father. A Funeral Mass will take on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan, NJ. Interment services will take place immediatley following the funeral mass, at St. Rose Lima Cemetery, Freehold, NJ. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. During the current phase of reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic the guidelines allow for a maximum of 50 people in the funeral home at any given time.
