Margaret Hennessy March 14, 1926 – February 20, 2018 Margaret Hennessy (nee Gaito), loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in the presence of family on February 20, 2018. She was 91. Margaret was born March 14, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ, to Pellegrino and Angelina Gaito. She was the seventh of eight children. She is predeceased by her loving parents; her son, Ralphie; her husband, William Hennessy; her sister, Mary Italiano; and her brothers, Anthony, Armand, Charlie, Marty and Johnny Gaito. Margaret is survived by her children, Linda Negraval (Charles) of Old Bridge, NJ, Dawn Lee Hennessy of Budd Lake, NJ, and Patrick Hennessy of Bayville, NJ; her grandchildren, Justin Negraval (Lauren), Samantha Negraval, Ryan Tomkievicz and Aidan Tomkievicz; and her great-grandsons, Tyler James Negraval and Jace Negraval. Also surviving is her sister, Helen Bunarowski of Port Orange, FL, and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Snyder High School in Jersey City, Margaret worked as an office clerk for Commercial Trust Company in Journal Square for many years. She was quick with a story or joke, and her smile and sparkling eyes could light up a room. She loved movies, TV shows, music and Frank Sinatra. Most recently, Margaret was a resident of The Chelsea at Forsgate, Monroe, NJ, where she made many friends and earned a reputation for her trivia prowess. Above all, she had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily for most of her adult life. A kind-hearted and understanding listener, Margaret touched many lives and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 25, 4-8 p.m., at the Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Monday, February 26, 10:30 a.m., at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Old Bridge, NJ, followed by interment at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in East Brunswick, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
