Lydia Martinez, 90 of Perth Amboy, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born Tuesday, March 20, 1928 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Ulpiana Rosa. Lydia was raised in Puerto Rico and would marry there and raise her family there. At the age of 30, Lydia moved to Philadelphia, Pa, before relocating to Perth Amboy, NJ. Lydia was a seamstress, she enjoyed sewing items of clothing for family and friends, always willing to help when needed. Lydia was a devout Catholic, she enjoyed reading the bible when she had time and also praying for those that needed prayers. Lydia was a member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Perth Amboy. Lydia loved her family, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life. She loved having family and friends over for dinner and made sure no one went home hungry. She was a loving and caring woman and will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to have had her in their lives. Lydia was predeceased by her loving husband, Getulio Salas. Lydia is survived by her loving daughters, Carmen Taylor and her husband Curt, Esther Suarez and her husband William, Miriam Ore and her husband Walter, and Nilda Bosques and her husband Paul, and by her 10 cherished grandchildren, and 22 adored great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday at Our Lady of Hungary Church located at 697 Cortlandt Street Perth Amboy, New Jersey 08861. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, NJ. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
