Lucy Calabrese

February 14, 1935 - December 1, 2018

Lucy Calabrese, 83 of Freehold, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey, she was surrounded by the love of her family. Born Thursday, February 14, 1935 in Barile, Italy. Lucy was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Rose Buono. Lucy was raised in Italy. Soon after marrying the love of her life, Lucy would move to the United States, settling in Brooklyn. Lucy and her husband Amerigo would start their family in Brooklyn before relocating to Staten Island in 1977. Lucy worked at Wagner College as a food service assistant for many years, and was honored several times at Wagner by the students with articles and Homecoming theme of 'I Love Lucy'. In 2017 Lucy would move to Freehold, NJ to be closer to her family. Lucy enjoyed gardening. She was an excellent cook who loved cooking and gathering with her family for meals. Most of all Lucy loved her family, and watching her grandchildren grow up. The love she shared with them will live on forever and she will be missed by all those that were blessed to have had her in their lives. Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Amerigo in 1986. Lucy is survived by her loving children, Joseph Calabrese, John Calabrese and his wife Diane, and Roseanne Corbett and her husband Gary, by her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Calabrese, Christine Lenglet, John Calabrese, Justin Calabrese, Thomas Corbett, Jacqueline Corbett, and Victoria Corbett, and by her adored great grandchildren, JR and AJ Shubert. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Church, 16 Poplar Ave, Staten Island, NY. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Lucy's memory are made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
