Joanne Huntsman

Joanne Huntsman, 76 of Barnegat, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. Born Friday, February 8, 1946 in Vizzini, Italy, Joanne was the daughter of the late Gregorio and Concetta Maugeri. Joanne would immigrate to the United States at the age of 11. The family would live in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. Joanne would graduate from Lafayette High School. She would go on to start a family, living first in Passaic, NJ, before settling in Barnegat in 1978. Joanne would then go on to attend Stockton College and earn her Bachelors Degree. During this time she would also attend the University of Seville in Spain, majoring in the Spanish language. Joanne was fluent in Spanish, Italian, and English,as well as the different dialects within the languages. A devout Catholic, Joanne was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Manahawkin. She would volunteer her time there, teaching the children of the parish community in the religious education classes. In her spare time Joanne loved spending time with her family. She loved to cook, and host many family get togethers. She was a loving and caring woman who will be missed by all those that were blessed to have her in their lives. Joanne is survived by her husband Robert Huntsman, by her loving sons, Joseph and James and his fiance Kristine, by her caring siblings, Mario, Pamela, and Salvatore, and by her cherished grandchildren, Dominic, Tyler, Braden, James, and Cailee. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Saturday at 9:30 AM Interment to follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
