Joan Doherty, 69 of Monroe Township, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Tuesday, January 2, 1951 in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Marion Doherty. Joan was raised in the Ozone Park and Howard Beach neighborhoods in Queens. She would go on to graduate from John Adams High School. Joan worked in Howard Beach as a medical receptionist with Pro Health Center. In 2017 Joan moved to Monroe to be closer to her family. She would work with the Monroe Township school district, as a Para on the school buses. Joan enjoyed gardening, she also enjoyed going bowling, shopping, and playing Bingo. Joan was predeceased by her parents, John and Marion Doherty, by her brothers, Charles and John Doherty, by her sister Carole Demato and also by her nephew, Thomas Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Michele and her husband Andrew, by her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Alexis, Jada, Laron, and Cyle, by her caring siblings, Florence Paradise and Charlene Doherty, and by her nieces and nephews, Lisa, Jennifer, Michael, Ralphie, and John. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday at St. Ambrose Church located at 81 Throckmorton Ln Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. During the current phase of reopening there is a maximum of 50 people allowed inside the funeral home at anytime.
