Janice Galeotafiore

March 15, 1936 - June 17, 2021

Janice Galeotafiore, 85, of East Brunswick, NJ passed on Thursday, June 17th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Newark, NJ to the late Antonio and Helena Pavao, Janice would meet her husband, Dominic, and marry in 1953. They moved to Old Bridge in 1962, and it was there that they raised their family. Janice was the consummate homemaker and adoring mother who put family first and worked tirelessly to ensure that they were loved and cared for. Once her children were older, Janice returned to the workforce and spent 10 years as a secretary for Central Jersey Savings & Loan Bank, where she established several special friendships that she continued to this day. Her greatest joy in life was that of her children and her ten grandchildren. As a grandmother, she showed endless love and devotion to each one through the special relationships they shared. She was the "village" - so instrumental in supporting her family through countless selfless acts. Whatever was needed, wherever needed, she was only too happy to take on the role as babysitter, sports spectator, taxi driver, birthday cake baker and was ever-present for their numerous school and church functions and celebrations. She lived by her calendar, making herself available to her family every day, except for the occasional trip to Atlantic City to play the slots, usually accompanied by one of the other grandmothers. Janice is predeceased by her beloved husband, Dominic, who passed in 1997, as well as her parents and three siblings. Janice is survived by her devoted children, Michael (Dina), Toni Parlow (Chris) and Loriann as well as her cherished grandchildren Michael John, Jr. (Caitlin), Nicholas (Megan), Gianna and Julie Galeotafiore; Samantha (Johnny Pra Sisto), Christopher and Olivia Parlow; and Matthew, Andrew and Jonathan Dekovics. She also is remembered by extended family members that loved and knew her as Granny Jan and G-ma, and her constant thoughtfulness and outreach will be deeply missed by all those who loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family requested a donation to be made in Janice's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital either online at or by mail: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Saint Thomas Drive, Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Interment will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Funeral Home located at 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge.
