Dorothy Malvasio

Dorothy Malvasio, 85 of Monroe Township, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born February 5, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Berube. Dorothy was raised in Brooklyn. She would go on to graduate from Bay Ridge High School. Dorothy would meet the love of her life Joseph Malvasio at the age of 17. After their brief courtship, the couple would marry, and begin what would be, a beautiful journey for the next 68 years. They would raise their three children in Brooklyn, New York. They would then move to Staten Island. Dorothy worked for The New York Telephone Company in Brooklyn, as a phone operator. After retirement Dorothy and Joseph moved to Spring Hill, Florida. They lived there for more than 25 years before settling in Monroe, New Jersey to be closer to family. Dorothy loved to dance, she enjoyed taking cruises with Joseph and her family. She also loved to surprise the family with unexpected visits to New York. She enjoyed bowling and of course roller skating, as it was at a roller skating rink where she met Joseph. Most of all Dorothy loved being with her family. She was a loving and caring woman, with a beautiful smile, who will be missed by all those that loved her. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Florence Berube, by her daughter, Patricia Malvasio, and by her siblings, Florie Gepes, Lillian Jakubowski, Mary Bianco, and William Berube. Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Malvasio, by her loving children, Joseph Malvasio and his wife Charlotte, and Susan Bowden and her husband Jack, by her caring siblings, Helen Chavis, Margaret Dellacato, and Virginia Santora, by her cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Michaela, Eric, and Jessica, and by her adored great grandchildren, Annetta, Joseph, and Emilia. A memorial gathering will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at the Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
