Charles W Spade

February 3, 1946 - August 7, 2020

Charles W. Spade (Bill), died August 7, 2020 after a year long illness of ALS. Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, he moved to Hazlet, NJ as a youth. Bill graduated from Raritan High School, class of 1965. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during a tour in Vietnam in 1967. Upon being honorably discharged he worked for Met Life Insurance Company for 15 years. Having an interest in Taxidermy, he opened his own shop under the name 'Bills Taxidermy', which he continued to work at, over the next 40 years. He would retire in 2015. Bill lived in Old Bridge, NJ for 17 years, then moved to Morganville for 25 years. He would then settle in Freehold for the past year. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, high school sweethearts, Gail (Scott) Spade, a daughter Lisa (Spade) Zurick of South Amboy, NJ, a son William and his wife Lisa Spade of Colts Neck, NJ, a daughter Janine (Spade) Bavosa and her husband Nick, of Gilbert, AZ. Four grandchildren, Jordan Spade, Brianna Spade, Nina Zurick, and Christian Bavosa, a sister Yvonne (Spade) Thorne of North Carolina a brother James Spade and his wife Kim of Virginia, and a brother Albert Spade Jr. and his wife Kerry, Bill is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service located at 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the Spade family asks that donations in Bill's memory are made to the JSUMC ALS Center Aftercare. During the current reopening phase the maximum amount of people allowed inside the funeral home is 50. We kindly ask that after paying your respects you exit the funeral home to allow other family and friends to enter and pay their respects. Thank you for your understanding.
