Ana Demorizi

July 20, 1953 - January 24, 2022

Ana ('Gicela') Demorizi, passed away at age 68 on Monday, January 24, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Miches, Dominican Republic, Gicela was the daughter of Fransisco Santana and Felipa Peralta. Gicela moved to Jersey City in the early 1970s, where she married and raised her four children. Gicela quickly became a business owner operating several grocery stores in Jersey City until her retirement. She was hard working, a loving mother, a role model to many and a devout Catholic. She loved spending time at the beach, and enjoyed working out and always staying fit. Gicela loved being surrounded by her family, and was a caring and generous woman. She was vibrant, known for her sense of humor and joyous personality and was always the life of the party. She will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to have her in their lives. Gicela was predeceased by her daughter, Dorian and her mother Felipa. She is survived by her father Fransisco ('Jimmy'), by her children and their spouses, Kathy and Antonio, Kerry and Patrick ('Paaa'), and Adonis and Chloe; by her grandchildren, Rashon, Nyla, Xavier, Azaria, and soon to be Baby Girl Soranno and by her granddogs, Rufus ('Roof'), Bluto, Gus, and Max. Gicela is also survived by her maternal siblings, Amantina, Rafael, Juan, Maria, and Anamaria and by many paternal siblings that she was very close with, as well as many nieces and nephews who valued her like a mother and grandmother, and many friends who thought of her as a sister. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. Gicela's remains will then be transported to Miches, Dominican Republic, where she will be laid to rest.
