Paul Vazzana

Paul John Vazzana was born to the late John & Madeline Vazzana, a craftsman and a seamstress, in Brooklyn NY on April 10th , 1941. Paul was proud to be of his Italian/American heritage and grew up in Brooklyn where all his aunts, uncles and cousins lived on the same block. This made for some fun, exciting and unforgettable memories that Paul would talk about for years and years. From playing cards in the basement, to Atlantic city trips and Christmas Eve parties, Paul loved his extended family and cherished these times. Although they all grew up together and eventually, they went their separate ways, Paul stayed close with his family, especially his cousins. Paul's loyalty was remarkable to all he loved, however, there's one person in Paul's life that could do no wrong and he loved with all his heart and soul. His brother John. Paul was a General Manager for Con-Edison Gas Operations by trade. He was a tough, but fair leader and ensured every job was a job well done. Everyone, who knows Paul, knows that fishing gave him great joy. He was a true Angler by nature. The love of the ocean filled his heart while excitement and passion flowed through his veins when he was on the water fishing. 'Every day on the water is a good day' was his motto. No amount of rain or hail could stop him, if the Ocean Explorer (Paul's favorite fishing boat in Belmar NJ) was going out that day, he was there. Paul had no fear of the waves and no care about weather conditions, he fished in every and any situation and always with a smile on his face. He would 'hook um' and 'reel um' in like a pro and would be proud of his catch of the day. A Veteran - Paul served as an MP in the United States Army. His American flag is proudly always waving on the front of his house out of respect for his country. He honors that flag and has the utmost respect for his country along with the men and women who serve and served in the US military. Paul believed that every man and woman who live in America should stand for our Flag. A Man of Little Words - Paul was a man of little words. He spoke when he had something to say and when he didn't, he remained quiet. When Paul spoke on a topic, he spoke with his truth, in an uncompromising respectful way. If you didn't agree with him, it was okay, but he would never conform to anything that wasn't his truth. This made Paul extremely powerful in speech as well as well respected. Paul was an honest man, a stand-up man and a righteous man. A 'Foodie' - Paul was a 'foodie'. Enjoying delicious home cooked meals made by his wife Terry and going out to fine restaurants made him happy. If the waiter got his 'Crown Royal Manhattan' cocktail right (straight up, stirred, not shaken) that waiter was in for a generous tip. He was simple in his food requests... give him a good meatball sandwich and a nice juicy steak and baked potato and you were on his good side. A gentleman- Paul was the epitome of a gentleman. Always listened when you spoke (never over spoke or was rude even if he disagreed with you), He dressed with intention, always proper for the occasion. His shirts were pressed, pants were ironed, and shoes always shined. His sunglasses never smudged, and his watch always set to the right time. Paul cared about how he entered a room and he always entered dapper and handsome. A lover of Animals - if you wanted to see the humble and gentle side of Paul (which wasn't often) as he had a tough exterior, put a dog in his presence. Paul loved dogs, especially 'Ginger'. A Friend - Paul was such a good friend. He would do absolutely anything for the people he called 'friend'. He had a 'no questions asked' attitude. You needed him, he was there, 'no questions asked'. A Brother - Paul absolutely adored his brother John. John was the apple of Paul's eye and loved being in his presence more than anyone else. Paul was so proud of John and his accomplishments and spoke about them with such pride. They would often dine together. Paul loved going out to restaurants with his brother. He loved fishing with his brother in Florida. John didn't love it so much, but knew it made Paul happy and Paul appreciated this. Paul loved his brother unconditionally and shared priceless conversations and memories with his only brother. A Husband- Paul was blessed that he had two loving wives. His first wife Camille who unfortunately he lost too soon and his current wife Terry who he loved dearly. Paul and Terry built a beautiful life together, they were inseparable and very much in love. They did everything like two in peas in a pod. They became each other's caregivers, best friends and confidants. Through the best of times and worst of times Paul and Terry became a love story with a bond that couldn't be broken. Paul is survived by his wife Terry, his two children Nicole and John, his stepdaughter Tara, his brother John, his sister-in-law Jeanne, his four grandchildren, PJ, Mira, Chloe & Philip, three step-grand-children, Paul, Lauren & Annabella, his niece Jennifer and nephew Vincent as well his great nephews Zach and his loving cousins. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge, NJ. Burial will follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville, NJ.
