Olga Gonzalez

Olga Gonzalez, age 85 of Sayreville, passed away on September 7th, 2023 in her Somerset home with her three children and granddaughter at her side. Born and raised in Cuba, Mrs. Gonzalez came to the US with her husband and children in 1970. She resided in Keyport the last 15 years with her husband, and another 3 years on her own when he passed. She amazed everyone as she took care of herself and kept such a strong spirit after her loss. Mrs. Gonzalez’s family and friends called her Mamin. Mamin was a homemaker who loved her family, caring for children, and was known as the neighborhood babysitter. She loved and cared for so many in Sayreville and always remembered each one of them, asking about them until the end of her days. She loved her family and listening to music, spending hours each day listening to her favorite CDs and cassettes she collected throughout the years. She loved going through pictures and always had a bunch in her purse to show off. She enjoyed cleaning and you were lucky if she was in your home because she would make sure to add her own finishing touches. She loved gardening & flowers, feeding the birds, taking long walks everywhere and anywhere, walking every aisle at the the dollar store, watching her shows, and she loved food. Her specific favorites were Chinese, ice cream cake, & pizza. Her bright blue eyes would light up any room she walked into. She was a loving, nurturing, and gentle soul who loved caring for and serving others. Mamin was filled with jokes and always made silly faces, keeping everybody laughing. She started her life in Cuba born into a poor situation but God turned that around and she left this earth rich in family, love, & having all her heart’s desires met. Those who knew her adored her and she will be missed deeply and dearly. She is predeceased by her husband Oreste Gonzalez and survived by her daughters Olga Lidia Arabitg and Amariliz Gonzalez; son, Reinaldo Gonzalez; sisters Norma Brey & Lali Alfonso; grandchildren, Kristina Garcia, Adolfo Adrian Arabitg, Michael Arabitg, Christopher Arabitg, Andrew Gonzalez, Crystal Quinones, Reinaldo Ariel Gonzalez; great grandchildren AAliyah Williams, Brianna Quinones, Khloe Quinones, Everly Quinones, Bentley Quinones & Christian Gonzalez. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday September 23, 2023 between the hours of 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Michael Hegarty and John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Service, located at 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
