Mary Jane Leona Lally

Mary Jane Leona Lally, 89 of Howell, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 13, 2023. The second oldest of four and the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Nolan, Mary Jane was born on April 11, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York. Mary Jane was raised in the East New York section of Brooklyn. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonald High School. It was during a high school dance she would meet the love of her life, Martin Thomas Lally. The couple would begin a courtship that would end in marriage. They would first live in Brooklyn and start their family there. In 1964 they would move to Old Bridge, New Jersey, to continue raising their children. While living in Old Bridge Mary Jane became very active in St. Ambrose Parish, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mary Jane was a dedicated and loving mother. She always put her family first above all else, and when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were born, she always loved being with them. Mary Jane was not only an avid shopper of QVC but also possessed a passion and appreciation for gardening, activities she would keep until her final days. Mary Jane was a loving and caring woman who will be deeply missed by all those who love her. Mary Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband Martin who passed away in May, 2000 and by her beloved son Brian who passed away in January, 2020. Mary Jane is survived by her loving children Patricia Givney and her husband William, Martin Lally and his wife Michele, Kathryn Christie and her husband Richard, Mary Ann Hanson and her husband Paul, Francis Lally and his wife Lisa, Karen Lally, Kerry Ann Lally and Thomas Lally, by her cherished grandchildren, Kristin Mottola and her husband Anthony, Moire Hirschhorn and her husband David, Susan Wiener and her husband Jason, Kelly MacIsaac and her husband Christopher, William Givney and his wife Cathleen, Kaitlin Vaillancourt and her husband Patrick, Kimberly Mansell and her husband Harris, Francis Lally, Erin Lamirande and her husband Timothy, Maria Cowan and her husband Sky, Meaghan Hanson, Amanda Lally, Heather Lally, Kyra Lally, Sean Hanson, Brittany Lally, Kelsey Lally and by her adored great grandchildren Molly, Jason, Ryan, Julia, Abigail, Elissa, Maxwell, Charlotte, Conall, John, Isla, Connor, Kyla, Brayden, Luke, and Grace. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Michael Hegarty and John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Most Holy Redeemer Church located at 133 Amboy Road, Matawan.
