Manuel Loureiro

Manuel Loureiro, 89 years old of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Hackensack Meridian Healthcare Center, Old Bridge. Born January 14, 1937 in Girabolhos, Portugal, Manuel was the son of the late Manuel and Deolinda Loureiro. Manuel was raised in Portugal, and immigrated to the United States when he was in his 30's. He lived in Newark, NJ, and it was there he would meet the love of his life, Alice Maia. The couple would marry after just 3 months. They knew that they were meant for each other right away. They would settle in Harrison, and that is where they would grow their family, and raise their children. Manuel and Alice moved to Old Bridge in 2008 to be closer to their growing family. Manuel worked for many years as a Longshoreman in Port Newark. There he worked as a truck driver unloading the many cargo ships that entered New Jersey. When he wasn't working he enjoyed spending his time playing cards, dominos, and listening to old Portuguese folk music. Manuel also enjoyed spending time with Alice and his family at their home in Florida. More than anything Manuel was a husband, father, and grandfather and his family was everything to him. He will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to have him in their lives. Manuel was predeceased by his parents, Manuel and Deolinda, and by his brother Antonio. Manuel is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Alice, by his loving children, Sandra Pereira and her husband Marcelino, Manuel and his wife Amy, and Alcina Santos and her husband Nuno, by his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Kayla, Victoria, Noah, Veronica, Haven and MaKenzie, and by his caring siblings, Laurindo, Jose, Hortense, Conceisao, Isilda, and Lucilia. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday at St. Ambrose Church located at 81 Throckmorton Ln Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Interment will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick, NJ.
