Leokadia Kacprzak, 91, of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully at Springpoint Nursing Home on May 18, 2025. Born on March 10, 1934, in Poland to Rudolph and Adele Cerbin, Leokadia's journey was marked by her love for life and her indomitable spirit. As a young girl, living in Germany she enjoyed weekend trips to Switzerland, where her love for the mountains blossomed. Despite only attending school for a short time, she pursued her education independently, cultivating a vast reservoir of knowledge and pride in her self-directed learning. In her early twenties, Leokadia ventured from Germany to Brooklyn, NY, where she met Walter, at a Polish dance hall. Together, they built a family and a friendly establishment - Lee's Place in Jersey City, New Jersey, which became a beloved 'go-to' tavern for many years. Leokadia was passionate about gardening, growing vibrant flowers and vegetables, and took great joy in sewing, cooking traditional meals for her family, especially during special occasions and holidays. An avid traveler, she delighted in exploring places like Las Vegas, Maine, Pennsylvania and the Carolinas, enjoying long drives and beach outings. Her love for animals was profound, with a special fondness for dogs. Above all, Leokadia was a devoted family woman. Her children were her priority, and she relished in taking them on adventures, sharing her zest for life. A strong, smart, and brave woman, Leokadia was a pillar of support and guidance for many, always ready with advice and a solution for any problem. Her heart of gold was evident to all who knew her. Leokadia is predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Adele, her beloved daughter Lillian, and her brothers Herbert, Bruno, and William. Leokadia is survived by her cherished children, Diana Kacprzak and William Szczepanski, and her loving sisters, Erika, Helga, and Wanda. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Desiree and partner Morgan, Nicole, and AnnMarie, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Braedyn, Leilah, Landon, William, Isaiah, Mariah, and Matthew. Also by many caring nieces and nephews. Leokadia was truly one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025 between the hours of 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 12:30 pm at St. Martha's Church Cemetery, Stillwater, PA.
