Joyce Vogler

Joyce Mary Vogler, 59, of Old Bridge, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Joy was born on January 27, 1963, the eighth child of the Vogler family. Raised in Bloomfield, NJ, Joy attended Holy Name Grammar School, East Orange Catholic H.S. and graduated from Immaculate Conception H.S. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Paterson College. Joy lived in several states within the US, spent time abroad in Germany, and ten years ago settled in her home in Old Bridge NJ. She found great friends and a strong sense of community at Society Hill where she served as a member of the Board of Trustees. She could often be seen helping a neighbor shovel snow, weed a garden, walk a dog or rescue a cat. One of Joy's greatest attributes was her commitment to family, friends and neighbors. She met the needs of others with compassion, grace and tireless energy. Joy formed a special bond with everyone she met, holding each person close in her heart. Her love for others was not just for special occasions; it was how she lived each and every day. She had an amazing ability to remain close with everyone who touched her life. Joy had a unique sense of humor and, simply put, she was always fun to be with. For over 23 years, Joy was employed by State Farm Insurance Company as a Claims Specialist. The favorite part of her job was the camaraderie of her coworkers who became her good friends. From the day her son, Kyle, was born her devotion to him was unmatched. She was actively involved in his education, attended all of his sporting events, and supported all of his endeavors. She was a member of the Ocean Township Football Club and served a term as their president. Joy was always Kyle's number one fan. You would often find Joy spending time in her garden, hiking in the woods, attending garage sales, listening to music and caring for her beloved pets. Joy was predeceased by her parents, John and Jean, and her brother, Joseph, who was fondly called Pepie. Joyce is survived by her loving son, Kyle, and his companion Kate. She leaves behind her siblings, John Vogler (Kathi), Joan Rahill, Jean Chinni (Dante), Janet McGillis (Rick), Judi Tyminski (Ken), Jayne Vogler, sister-in-law Nicole Borelli-Vogler, and many caring and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2022, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 200 Midland Avenue, East Orange, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark would be greatly appreciated. Joy never passed a homeless person in need without offering help in whatever way she could. Catholic Charities provides emergency shelter for the homeless, psychological and psychiatric help for those with mental illness, and affordable housing for low-income families.
