Joseph Kay, 44, of Englishtown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 25, 1982, in Brooklyn, New York, Joseph was the beloved son of Mary Kay and the oldest of three children. He spent his early years in Brooklyn before moving with his family to Staten Island, where he attended Monsignor Farrell High School. There, Joseph excelled academically and distinguished himself as a star football player. He went on to continue his education at C.W. Post, Long Island University. Following graduation, Joseph began a career with Con Edison, a job he truly loved and took great pride in. Throughout his years there, he became the person everyone knew they could turn to. If someone needed help, Joseph was there, always ready and willing to lend a hand. Helping others was simply part of who he was. Joseph met his beloved wife, Matilde, through her jewelry store. What began as a friendship, filled with conversations and laughter, soon blossomed into a loving relationship. The two would eventually marry and build a beautiful life together, raising their four cherished children, Antonio, Joseph Jr., Anna, and Lilliana Joseph loved his children beyond words. They were everything to him and the center of his world. He never missed a game, a milestone, a celebration, or any special occasion in their lives. He was always there for them—not only as their Dad, but as their friend, their biggest supporter, and the person they could always count on. Joseph took immense pride in his children and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. His love for them was unconditional and unwavering, and the lessons, laughter, love, and memories he gave them will remain with them for the rest of their lives. He was proudly a "Momma's boy," and his siblings would often joke that he was their mother's favorite. But Joseph would be the first to tell you that everyone was his favorite—and, somehow, he managed to become everyone's favorite in return. Joseph shared an especially strong bond with his sister, HeatherMarie, and his brother, Steven. Their connection was one built on love, loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of memories—a bond that no one could ever break. Joseph loved spending time with his family. Whether gathered around the kitchen, enjoying a meal he had prepared, sharing stories, or simply making everyone laugh with one of his many jokes, Joseph treasured those moments together. Cooking was one of the ways he showed his love, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than bringing his family together, filling the home with good food, laughter, and memories that will be cherished forever. Joseph was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and was a lifelong football fan. Although his playing days eventually came to an end, his love for the game never did. He remained a devoted fan of the New York Jets. Joseph enjoyed traveling with his family, especially trips to Aruba and Atlantic City. He also had a deep appreciation for house music and could always find a way to bring energy and life into a room. Joseph was a provider in every sense of the word. Whether it meant listening when someone needed to talk, cooking a meal, solving a problem, or simply showing up when someone needed a helping hand, Joseph was there. He gave of himself freely and never hesitated to put the needs of others before his own. To know Joseph was to love Joseph. He was the kind of person you could meet only once and still have him leave a lasting impression. He had a wonderful sense of humor and countless jokes that could make anyone laugh. His warm spirit, generous heart, and genuine love for people were unmistakable. Joseph simply loved to love people. Above all, Joseph was the foundation of his family. He was the person people leaned on, the person who brought everyone together, and the person who could always be counted upon. His presence brought comfort, laughter, strength, and love to those around him. He leaves behind an everlasting imprint on the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Matilde; his devoted mother, Mary; and his cherished children, Antonio, Joseph Jr., Anna, and Lilliana. He is also survived by his adored sister, HeatherMarie; his loving brother, Steven, and his wife, Christina; his loving nieces and nephews, including his goddaughter, Alexamarie, and godson, Jackson, and Addison. He is also survived by his beloved aunt and godmother, June; his aunt and uncle, Cathy and Bernard; along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. Joseph was truly one of a kind. His laughter, kindness, humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends will live on through his memory. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. He was the foundation of his family, the friend everyone could count on, and a man who loved with his whole heart. Joseph will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
