Janet Addabbo

Janet Addabbo, 95 of Manalapan, New Jersey passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Raritan Bay Medical Center. Born Wednesday, February 16, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, Janet was the daughter of the late Charles and Annetta Salane Janet grew up in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn. She would attend the Pratt Institute in New York. In the late 1940's she would meet and marry the love of her life, John Addabbo. The couple would marry, and then move to Sheepshead Bay to raise a family of their own. She would work as a Librarian at the Public Library in her neighborhood in Brooklyn. Janet also volunteered her time teaching religious education at St, Mark's Church in Brooklyn. Janet would move to Gerritsen Beach, and there become a parishioner of Resurrection Roman Catholic Church. She would enjoy attending mass, as well as the BINGO's at church. In more recent years Janet would move to Manalapan, to be closer to family. Janet loved being surrounded by her family. She believed in the importance of Sunday dinners and having the family together around the table. Janet could play the piano, as well as hold her own in a hand of poker. She also enjoyed drawing, knitting, crocheting, baking cookies and trips to Atlantic City. Janet was a loving and caring woman who will be missed by all those that love her. Janet was predeceased by her beloved husband John, who passed away in 1990. Janet is survived by her loving children, Diane Brooks, and Daniel Addabbo and his wife Anne, by her cherished grandchildren, Frank and his wife Katie, Chris and his wife Toni Ann, John and Chris, Joey and his wife Fredi, Jonathan, and Donato, and she was Big Momma to her cherished great grandchildren, Rocco, Bella, Brooklyn, Jackson, Douglas, Joey, and Triton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church located at 2331 Gerritsen Ave Brooklyn, New York 11229. Interment will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
