Gregory McKinney

Gregory McKinney, 72 of Old Bridge, New Jersey went home to the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick. Born Saturday, July 5, 1952 in Staten Island, New York, Gregory was the son of the late Leonard and Estelle McKinney. Gregory was raised in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island, he was an excellent student and athlete and after graduating from Curtis High school where he was senior class president, he went on to attend Michigan University. At Michigan University he played football and was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Gregory earned a Bachelors Degree from Michigan and returned home to Staten Island. Gregory first met Donna O'Loughlin in Elementary School PS 14. Greg knew from that point that he had found the love of his life. Eventually the couple started a courtship that led to a beautiful wedding at Willowbrook Baptist Church and 47 years of a blessed marriage. The couple first lived in the Port Richmond section of Staten Island. They later moved to Rahway, NJ for a short time before finally settling in Old Bridge in 1982. Upon settling in Old Bridge the couple would expand their family, having three beautiful daughters. Gregory and Donna we active members of Sayre Woods Bible Church from 1984-2020, where they were faithful in serving at Sayrewoods and used their gifts and talents to bless others. Gregory worked as a graphic designer. He enjoyed working for Avon in New York City, but knew that he wanted to expand and start a business of his own. Gregory put his heart and soul into building his successful design business. When Gregory wasn't working he enjoyed watching sporting events, especially rooting for his favorite teams the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He was a great cook, and loved making meals for his family. Gregory enjoyed sitting down and watching a good movie and just listening to music. He was a loving and caring man who will be missed by all those that love him. Gregory was predeceased by his beloved wife Donna, who passed away in 2023, and by his brothers, Leonard and Chris. Gregory is survived by his loving children, Paletza O'Loughlin, Kristi McInerney and her husband John, and Sara McKinney, and by his cherished grandchildren, Julia, Mark, Micah, and Mia. On Wednesday July 24, the family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM, led by Pastor Angelo Palma.
