George Volikas

George Volikas, 61 of South Amboy, New Jersey passed away, surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Madison Care Center in Matawan, New Jersey. Born Wednesday, April 2, 1958 in Athens, Greece, he was the son of Marietta Volikas and the late Ioannis Volikas. George was raised in Greece and graduated from Technical School there. It was at that point he learned the trade he would practice his entire life. George would immigrate to the United States in 1975, at the age of 17. Soon after he would meet the love of his life. George would meet Helen Emporellis, being introduced to each other by Helen's cousin Jimmy, and the two would soon after marry. They would start their family. George was a self employed Auto Mechanic, he owned Delta Auto Repair in Franklin Township, NJ. George had a love for collecting cars, even toys cars, with a large Hess Truck Collection. His biggest love was his family, he cherished every moment with them, as did they with him. He will be missed by all those that loved him, but the memories that he gave will live on eternal. George is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, by his loving children, Maria Volikas, and Ioannis Volikas, by his loving mother, Marietta Volikas, by his caring sister, Assimina Volikas, by his caring sister in law, Margie Markou and her husband Peter, and daughter Maria, by close family friends, Charmaine Fernandez, and Becky Gibbs and by his loving mother in law, Maria Emporellis, and by Helen's cousin, Jimmy Emporellis and his wife Eleni, their children, Foti, Ermakos, and Afroditi, and by Helen's cousin, Niki, her husband George, and their children, Rena, and Jimmy, and by many more cousins, nephews and nieces in Greece and Australia. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church located at 20 Hillcrest Rd Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. Burial to follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro, New Jersey. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. The family requests that in leiu of flowers donations in George's memory are made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
