Florence Loewy

Florence Patricia Loewy, 83 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Tuesday, October 26, 1937 in New York, New York, Florence was one of nine children born to the late William and Ellen O'Leary. Florence was raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She attended St. Monica's school, before graduating form the Thorpe Secretarial school. When Florence was 16 she would meet the love of her life, William Loewy. Though living around the corner from one another, their first meeting would be at the Friday night dance held at the East Side House. After many walks home, and William making sure to have Florence home at 10:00 PM, the couple would marry. Living first in Manhattan, they would move in Old Bridge, NJ, and that is where they raised their daughter, Patricia. Florence worked as an insurance adjuster for Scibal Associates in South Plainfield, but she was a wife, mother, and grandmother first. Family was everything to Florence and she cherished all the special moments that were made together. Though she did enjoy making time for trips down the Parkway to Atlantic City. She loved playing the machines, and her favorite was the ATM, as Florence said, 'I can't lose'. Florence will be deeply missed by all those that were blessed to have her in their lives. Florence is pre deceased by her siblings, Gloria Moschitta, Ellen Jacoutot, Katherine Weigand, William O'Leary, Hugh O'Leary, Timothy O'Leary, and Marie Ann O'Leary. Florence is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William, by her loving daughter Patricia Flanigan and her husband Jim Ferriter, by her cherished granddaughter Megan Cotugno and her husband Robert, by her caring sister Maureen Plewa, caring sister in law Ellen Loewy and a beloved Aunt to many. Interment will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick, NJ. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
