Eugene M. O'Donnell

Eugene M. O'Donnell, 83 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Born Tuesday, March 23, 1937 in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Thomas and Frances O'Donnell. Eugene was raised in Queens. He would graduate from William Cullen Bryant High School. After high school Eugene enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country honorably. When Eugene returned from service he would meet the love of his life, Geraldine Grogan. The couple would marry and move to the Highbridge section of the Bronx. They would eventually move to Old Bridge in 1969. Eugene worked as a police officer for Amtrak, he would rise to the rank of Chief Inspector, working in Manhattan. Eugene was a member of the NJ Police Chiefs Association. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. Eugene was an accomplished pistol shooter, shooting in many different competitions throughout the region. Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Frances O'Donnell, by his sister Frances Cassel, by his brother, Thomas O'Donnell, and by his great granddaughter Layla O'Donnell. Eugene is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Geraldine, by his loving sons, Eugene O'Donnell and his longtime partner Tracy McDermott, Thomas O'Donnell and his wife Rosa, Michael O'Donnell and his wife Kimberlee, and Sean O'Donnell and his longtime partner Beth Cullinane, by his caring brother Richard O'Donnell and his wife Joan, by his cherished grandchildren, Nancy Beauvais (Jason), Megan Kang (Donny), Patrick O'Donnell, Shannon O'Donnell, Michael O'Donnell, Chrissy Clark (Kevin), Gene O'Donnell, Cody Jaworksi, Kayla O'Donnell, Sean O'Donnell, and Julia O'Donnell, and by his adoring great grandchildren, Lorelai, Lincoln, Freya, Makayla, Ava, Donny, Thomas, Jaxon, and Savannah. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday at St Ambrose Church located at 83 Throckmorton Ln Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857.
