Christa Carapella

Christa Carapella, 82 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022. Born Sunday, September 24, 1939 in Manheim, Germany, Christa was one of 18 children born to the late, Johann and Anna Schubach. Christa would meet Vincent Tortorici, a US Army Serviceman stationed in Germany. The couple got married and began a family while stationed there. They then moved to the United States, settling in Vincent's home in Manhattan, New York. The family moved and settled in Brooklyn, New York to raise their children. Later in life Christa and Vincent divorced and she met and married Ray Carapella. The couple eventually moved to Florida. After Ray's passing Christa moved to Syracuse, New York to be closer to her daughter Cathy and family. In 2015 Christa relocated to Old Bridge, New Jersey closer to her other children and grandchildren. Christa enjoyed playing the board game Trouble and cards very much with family and friends. She always kept a clean home, a value she passed along to her children. Her most precious love was her grandchildren. She always loved being surrounded by them and spending as much time with them as possible. She was a loving and caring woman who will be missed by all those that love her. Christa was predeceased by her husband Ray Carapella, ex husband Vincent Tortorici, and by her step sons Kelly and Paulie. Christa is survived by her loving children, Cathy Ungleich and her husband Ted, Michael Tortorici and his wife Ellie, Pat Tortorici and his wife Karen, Anna Fern and her husband Alan, and John Tortorici and his wife Ola, by her loving step children, George Carapella and his wife Lee, Albert Carapella and his wife Dawn, Vicki Carapella, and Margo Carapella, and by her many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service located at 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857.
