Chrisse Turner

Chrisse Turner, 95, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, after a long, healthy, and well-lived life filled with love, family, friendship, and service to others. Born on October 17, 1930, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Chrisse was the beloved daughter of Reverend Angelos and Polyxeni Tsigounis. She was predeceased by her brothers, Stanley Tsigounis and Dr. James Tsigounis and beloved sister in law Adele Lozowick. Chrisse grew up in Jersey City and graduated from Lincoln High School. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in teaching from William Paterson University, and worked as a devoted teacher in Rockaway Township, New Jersey. She later changed careers to administration at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey and then in Monroe Township, NJ where she was coordinator of Senior busing. She was married to Saul Turner and was a loving and devoted mother to Dr. Michael Carey and his wife, Anna Carey. Loving stepmother to Robert Turner and Alexis Spaulding. She took immense pride in her family and cherished every moment spent with them. Chrisse was the proud grandmother of Dr. Greg Carey, Shaun Carey, and Dr. Kevin Carey, and the adoring great-grandmother of Olivia and Isabella Carey. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Simone Tsigounis and Polyxeni Combs, and sister-in-law Marika Tsigounis. Outside of her career and family, Chrisse embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She loved traveling the world, appreciating and creating fine art, hosting family gatherings that brought everyone together, playing tennis, and spending countless hours with a good book. Her home was always a welcoming place, filled with laughter, conversation, and love. Chrisse will always be remembered for her warm smile, witty sense of humor, and unwavering words of encouragement. She had a remarkable gift for lifting the spirits of those around her and remained optimistic through every stage of life. Whenever someone was facing a difficult time, she would gently remind them, 'Tomorrow is another day.' Those simple words reflected the hope, resilience, and grace with which she lived her life. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched - as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and dear friend. She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her love, wisdom, and the countless memories they shared. Chrisse's life was a beautiful example of kindness, perseverance, generosity, and joy. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
