Beverly Nestler Fishman

Beverly Nestler Fishman was born on May 18, 1937, and passed away on May 14, 2026, just shy of her 89th birthday. She was raised in Jersey City in a warm Jewish home surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all under one roof. Because of that close knit upbringing, Beverly always considered family to be the most important part of her life. She carried that love and devotion throughout her life, always making sure her children and grandchildren were cared for with her loving and thoughtful ways. Whether through a phone call, a visit, or simply making sure everyone had what they needed, Beverly showed her love through constant care and attention. It was always a special day when she took you shopping, as she had a wonderful eye for fashion and a talent for putting together outfits with style and elegance. Beverly earned her undergraduate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and later received her master’s degree from Kean University. She was a dedicated teacher within Woodbridge Township School District for many years and touched countless lives throughout her career. Former students often shared stories with her children about the lasting impact Beverly had on them, a reflection of the care and encouragement she gave so naturally. Beverly was a strong and independent woman who built a life filled with warmth, friendship, creativity, and resilience. She settled in Colonia, where she raised her family over the years. After retiring in 2009, she moved to Edison before later making her home in Monroe Township. There she enjoyed playing and excelling at canasta, golf, spending time with friends, attending events, shopping, and traveling. With family and friends, she traveled to Israel, Portugal, and Ireland, and enjoyed many cruises over the years. After retirement, Beverly proudly declared that she was the source of her family’s artistic talent and began focusing seriously on her own art. What started as doodling throughout her life blossomed into a remarkable talent for watercolor and pastel painting. Her creativity flourished in retirement, and she created so much beautiful work that she held her own solo art show at the Monroe Township Library in 2018 at the age of 80, proving it is never too late to discover and share a passion. Most recently, Beverly resided at Brightview Eatontown, where she was often found warmly greeting people as they entered and chatting with residents, bringing smiles and conversation to those around her. Beverly leaves behind her three cherished children, Jodi Heinz (Hank), Mitch Fishman (Denise), and Cindy Fishman (Michael White). She was deeply proud of and lovingly spoiled her devoted grandchildren, Carly (Elah), Eric (Carson), Zachary, Jeremy, Miranda, and Brandon (Antonio). Her service will be held on May 18, the day that would have marked her 89th birthday, making it especially meaningful as she completed her full 88th trip around the sun surrounded by the love of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Lisovetsky, Harris & Jeffer Funeral Home, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge NJ 08857 on Monday, May 18th at 9:30 AM, immediately followed by burial at Baron Hirsch Cemetery in Staten Island. With Beverly’s passing, she leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, creativity, strength, style, and devotion to family will always be remembered by those fortunate enough to have shared in her life. May her memory be for a blessing.
