Athanase Pentogenis

Athanase Pentogenis, 74 of Monroe Township, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he was surrounded by the love of his family. Born Wednesday, November 20, 1946 in the town of Mitilini, on the island of Lesvos, in Greece, Athanase was the son of the late Peter and Merope Pentogenis. When Athanase was a young boy the Pentogenis family would move to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and that is where Athanase was raised. When he was 20 years old he would move to Queens, NY. After marrying his wife Maria, Athanase would move to Brooklyn and start his own family there. He also opened a florist there. Not too long later the family would move to Manalapan, NJ and he would raise his children there. Athanase would open the Vanity florist in Old Bridge, and would operate that until his retirement in 2019. More recently Athanase worked at Amazon as a fulfillment associate. Athanase was always keeping busy whether working at the florist, or working at home, completing many different projects around the house. He enjoyed throwing parties at home for family and friends. What Athanase enjoyed the most was being with his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and with his cats, Rocky and Trinity. Athanase was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Apostolia, and by his caring brother Christopher. Athanase is survived by his wife Maria, by his loving son Peter, by his loving daughters, Constantina and her husband Paul Kacandes, and Merope and her husband Davin Vounasis, by his cherished grandchildren, Alexander Thomas, Michael Victor, Joseph Peter, Harry Paul, and Alexandra Constantina, and by his caring sister Angela Antzoulis.
