Arnold Larsen

Arnold Larsen, 93 of Manalapan, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Solana at Marlboro. Born Wednesday, July 8, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Zacharias and Alfrida Larsen. Arnold would graduate High School and then joined the Armed Forces. At the age of 18 Arnold would serve in the Merchant Marines, delivering fuel to warships in the Atlantic Ocean. After his service in the Merchant Marines he would go on to serve in the United States Army, he would receive his Honorable Discharge. Arnold would attend technical school and become an engineer. It was at a Norwegian Seaman's Club in Downtown Brooklyn where he would meet the love of his life, Irene Johnsen. The two would marry and start their family while living in Brooklyn. Arnold opened his own home improvement store, AAA Larsen Windows & Doors in 1954. The family would move to Staten Island, where they would continue to live until retirement. After retiring Arnold and Irene moved to Stuart Florida, and lived there up until 3 years ago, before returning north to Manalapan, to be closer to family. Arnold was a God loving man, he spent a lot of his time in church Worshiping the Lord. He was a member of Calvary Tabernacle church in Brooklyn, and continued to attend that church after its relocation to Staten Island. He will be missed by all those that loved him. Arnold is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Irene, by his loving children, Sharon Hein and her husband Mike, David Larsen and his wife Donna, Wayne Larsen and his wife Beverly, Glenn Larsen and his wife Denyse, Bryan Larsen and his wife Justine, and Lillian Fiorella and her husband Victor, by his caring sister Marilyn Johnsen, and by his cherished 19 grandchildren, and adored 12 great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service located at 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857. Interment will be in Oceanview Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the Larsen family asks that donations in memory of Arnold Larsen are made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
