Annette Granata

Annette Granata passed away peacefully on June 12 th ,2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Annette was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 10 th ,1941 and spent all of her formative years there. She grew up in a loving home with her parents, John and Magnfiica (Minnie) Mazzariello, whom she loved and care for all their lives and into their senior years. She was surrounded with cherished aunts, uncles and cousins living in the 4-story brownstone of her Grandmother, Concetta Nacca. Annette was a beautiful and lovely girl and a good student. At Prospect Heights High School she was awarded the French Medal upon Graduation. She worked as a Secretary/Typist at the Kenyon & Eckardt Advertising Agency in Manhattan. It is there she was introduced by her coworker to her future husband, John Granata. They were married on October 9 th ,1960 and raised two sons, Philip and John, in Brooklyn and then Staten Island. When she could go back to work, she worked at the local bank safeguarding all the safe deposit boxes entrusted to her care. She then spent many years working for St. Joseph/St. Thomas Church in Staten Island as Secretary/Administrative Assistant. In her later years, they moved to Leisure Knoll in Manchester, NJ where she enjoyed new friends and many social activities. She was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frances and Phil Granata, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Granata and all of her aunts and uncles whom she considered second parents. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Philip & Trish, John & Denise and her two grandchildren and their spouses, Philip and Michelle, Kristen and Stacy. Her great grandchildren Anna, Kelsey and Addison will miss their Nana greatly. Her brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Cathy Mazzariello, will miss their best friend. Visiting hours will be 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday June 17, 2024 at Scalia Funeral Home 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857 On Tuesday June 18, 2024 there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph/St. Thomas Church 6097 Amboy Road Staten Island, NY 10309 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow the mass at Greenwood Cemetery Brooklyn, NY. The family thanks all the workers at Brandywine Governors Crossing for their selfless assistance to Annette and all their patients. The family also recognizes the Hospice individuals who gave their time and love to Annette on her final journey.
